Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 October 2026

OpenPocket POS is a free, offline-first point-of-sale app, with an optional paid cloud-sync plan. These terms explain the deal between you and us. Please read them before using the app.

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using OpenPocket POS ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. What the app is

OpenPocket POS helps you sell, manage inventory, print receipts and see reports for your shop, working entirely on your device without an internet connection. An optional Cloud backup plan adds backup and multi-device sync.

3. The free plan and the paid plan

4. Subscriptions & billing

The Cloud backup subscription is billed through Google Play. It renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in your Google Play account; access continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled according to Google Play's refund policy. Prices may change with reasonable notice.

5. Your responsibilities

6. Your data & content

Your shop data is yours. It stays on your device unless you enable Cloud backup, in which case it is stored on our backend only to provide that service, as described in the Privacy Policy. We claim no ownership of your data.

7. Backups & loss of data

Because the free app stores data only on your device, that data can be lost if your device is lost, damaged, reset, or the app is uninstalled. We strongly recommend exporting regular backups from the app, and/or using Cloud backup. We are not responsible for data lost where you have not kept a backup.

8. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. While we work hard to keep money math exact and the app reliable, you are responsible for verifying totals, taxes, change and reports for your own records. We do not guarantee the app will be uninterrupted or error‑free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenPocket POS and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Open source

OpenPocket POS is open source under the MIT License. You're free to read, run and build on the code per that license, available in our GitHub repository. These Terms govern your use of the official app and the Cloud backup service we operate.

11. Suspension

We may suspend the Cloud backup service for an account that abuses it or the backend. This does not affect your ability to keep using the app offline.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, note them in the app or here. Continuing to use the app after changes means you accept them.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to conflict‑of‑law rules. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer rights you have under your local law.
